Spoon’s Place

Andy Hargreaves looked around Canton and saw a need. “The city lacked non-chain dining options that had great food and a full bar, so we decided to bring one to Canton,” he says. That was three years ago, and today, Spoon’s Place is going strong, as one of Canton’s go-to favorites to catch a game or catch up with friends, get a delicious, freshly cooked meal and enjoy a full selection of draft beers and spirits. “We are locally owned, not a chain, with food that isn’t frozen or microwaved,” Andy notes. As co-owner, he handles marketing and social media. The other owners include Tom Spoon, in charge of the back of the restaurant, along with all food, and Vicki Sequin, who handles financials and front of the restaurant. While the restaurant’s Bangin’ Shrimp, burgers, wings and seafood chowder are customer favorites, Andy says their menu also offers a myriad of seafood options.

Spoon’s Place and Santa for Servers-
“In 2020, we recognized that the holiday season would be tight financially for several individuals in the restaurant industry, given the epidemic order restricting restaurants to carry-outs only.” says Andy, “So, we organized a ‘Santa for Servers’ program, ensuring that our Spoon’s Place staff (and others in the industry) would be able to provide a holiday to their children. We solicited support from our friends, family, and generous customers, to adopt a child or make a charitable donation. Thanks to the generosity of the community, we were able to provide gifts for 26 children of 15 families and provide gift cards to our staff (and others). Each child was given at least four items of clothing and four toys from their Santa list. Seeing the faces and the emotions of many people humbled by the virus and job loss during this time makes all the organization efforts SO worth it. We cannot thank those who supported this initiative enough. Come by and meet the people you helped in person!”
