Central City Dance & Fitness Center
Central City Dance & Fitness Center is the largest dance and fitness center in Michigan, boasting a 22,000 square feet state-of-the-art facility, floating dance floors, The City Snack Barre for students on the go and a large, welcoming lobby and reception area.
It’s a family-owned and operated business, founded by husband-and-wife team Tim and Tamara Smola, along with their daughter, Christina. “We chose Canton because it’s a family-friendly community, and for its diversity and vibrancy,” Tim notes. “Working with our professional team of dedicated dance educators, we teach students of all ages and skill levels. We offer dance, acrobatic arts and fitness classes to preschoolers, children, adults — boys too!” Their all-adult staff receives annual teacher training, and the studio is affiliated and certified through professional organizations such as Acrobatic Arts, Alixa Flexibility, Cecchetti Council of America professional ballet training, Rhythm Works Dance and Progressive Ballet Technique. In 2014, Central City was awarded the prestigious Business of the Year from the Canton Chamber of Commerce.
“We are fortunate to have Downstage Dancewear located adjacent to Central City Dance Center,” Tim adds. “It’s very convenient for Central City Dance customers, as well as the Plymouth/Canton community.” Downstage Dancewear stocks leotards, tights, dance shoes, dance bags, accessories and much more.
Central City Dance will soon be kicking off 1- and 3-day dance camps as well as its 6-week Summer Dance Jam.
