Celebration Flowers & Gifts of Canton Delivers Surprises and Smiles to Local Residents for Annual Make Someone Smile® Week

Celebration Flowers & Gifts will be delivering hundreds of Be Happy® Bouquets in honor of Teleflora’s Make Someone Smile Week from July 17th through the 23rd.

Teleflora donates the Be Happy® Mugs, and florists work with local wholesalers and growers to secure flower donations. With these donations, Teleflora florists create the cheerful Be Happy® Bouquets and delivers them to local hospitals, residents of nursing homes, recipients of Meals on Wheels, and other organizations.

In its 16th year, Teleflora’s annual Make Someone Smile® Week program has grown into the floral industry’s most popular, successful and emotional initiative in North America.

“We receive the most wonderful feedback from relatives of the bouquet recipients, says Debbie Custer, owner of Celebration Flowers & Gifts. Several times a year we get calls from family members, even out of state, remarking on how much the flowers meant to their loved one. I have been involved in the Teleflora event for seven years now and will continue for years to come. The feedback is what makes it all worthwhile and very rewarding.” Debbie goes on to thank their wonderful wholesalers, Mayesh of Romulus and Rokay of Plymouth. “Without their donations we would not have such a successful event!”

Celebration Flowers & Gifts of Canton is a one-stop shop for weddings and everyday flowers. Debbie and Gregg Custer have owned the business for 13 years. It has grown to include three full-time employees, up to 20 part-time employees with over 4,000 square feet of space! The shop’s bustling wedding season begins in early March and lasts throughout the holiday season in December. The store also does great during prom season with Plymouth-Canton Educational Park nearby.

The store keeps current by offering fresh new product lines often. Vera Bradley purses and accessories have been a great success and now occupies a larger area of the showroom. Store hours are Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm and Saturday, 10am to 3pm.

Debbie Custer is on the Michigan Floral Association Board and is president of the Teleflora’s Michigan unit. The business is also a member of the Society of American Florists.
