Welcome to Canton!
| Welcome to Canton where award-winning parks and recreation, culture, arts and heritage, family-friendly neighborhoods, industry and a thriving business district make residents proud to live in one of the most desirable communities in Wayne County. |
Beginning with the first settlers in Canton, self-sustaining farming was the main source of income that grew the six square miles into a thriving farm community by the 1830's. Until 1970, Canton remained the sweet corn capital of Michigan.
As a tribute to our farming history, in 2002 restoration of the Bartlett-Travis house transformed it into the centerpiece of Canton's Preservation Park in Cherry Hill Village where the Farmer's Market and other community gatherings are held.
Today a diverse population, a variety of housing options like the new urbanist Cherry Hill Village development, the state of the art Village Theatre, expanding nature trails and two municipal golf courses continue to attract families to Canton.
We invite you to enjoy the many amenities of the Canton Community.
