Bittinger Team Realtors Celebrate Canton Office

Bittinger
Lee and Noel Bittinger have worked and lived in the Canton area for 35 years. They both had successful real estate careers with a franchise company for over 30 years when they decided it was time to open a real estate business of their own. In 2015 they opened Bittinger Team Realtors on Canton Center Road. “Opening Bittinger Team Realtors was the best decision we ever made”, explains Noel. “We can offer more programs and better service for our clients.” The Bittingers believe that the beautiful community of Canton offers everything that their clients need such as highly-rated schools, great shopping, outstanding restaurants, countless activities and awesome people.

Since the opening at the very visible location, the business has exploded. Their mission is to positively impact peoples’ lives by creating extraordinary real estate experiences. The Bittingers are all about the client’s satisfaction. “Anyone can sell a house but to have a client walking away from the closing table feeling great about their sale really means the world to us,” says Noel. “Just making a sale does not excite us unless the client is 100% satisfied.” The owners also support the local businesses surrounding them. They regularly utilize the products and services of Alphagraphics, Signarama, Sweetwater’s Coffee and Tea, Silversounds DJ, and Main Street Catering.

The Bittingers’ feel it’s very important to stay current and innovative. They have taken real estate to a whole new visual level with the introduction of 3D photography. For their listed homes, the 3D photography allows the buyer to tour the house via computer where they can see the aerial floor plan or a dollhouse view of the house with wall and ceiling cutouts. You can experience the virtual tours at Bittinger.com/3DTours.

To celebrate the new business, the team is hosting a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on February 24 from 5-8pm. They will provide delicious refreshments, cocktails and music to enjoy while touring the office. The first 25 attendees will receive a complimentary voucher from Sweetwater’s Coffee and Tea. Please RSVP at Bittinger.com/grandopening or call 734.459.2600.

Gear Up for School at Once Upon a Child on Canton Center Road

Once_Upon_A_Child_New_Location
Once Upon a Child is a great option for back to school shopping. Not only can you buy gently used children’s clothing, equipment and toys, you can also sell children’s items for cash on the spot.

After visiting other franchises of Once Upon a Child, the current owner Todd Valmassei decided that the Canton area would be a great location to open a store. “We had kids of our own and loved the value offered by Once Upon a Child,” says Valmassei.

Once Upon a Child has been in Canton since 1996. Originally, the store space was 1700 square feet, and did about 14,000 sales transactions. They are now in a 9000 square foot area and last year alone, did about 57,000 sales transactions. “Our increased space allows us to offer so much more for our customers to select from,” explains Valmassei. “We wanted a location that would be easy to get to and our new location on the corner of N. Canton Center Road and Ford Road offers great east/west and north/south access. The Canton area has a great deal of diverse shopping available that we are proud to be a part of”.

This fall the store will have several great events including a Winter Coat Kick-off on Aug 20th and the Halloween Costume Kick-off on Sept 3rd.

The store is located in the New Towne Plaza Shopping Center at 1759 N. Canton Center Road, Canton. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 9am to 8pm, Saturday, 9am to 9pm and Sunday, 11am to 5pm. Call 734-459-6669 for more information.

Check out the website at www.OnceUponAChildCantonMI.com to read the simple steps to selling your kid’s items or go to their Facebook page at facebook.com/onceuponachild.cantonmonroe.

Celebration Flowers & Gifts of Canton Delivers Surprises and Smiles to Local Residents for Annual Make Someone Smile® Week

Celebration Flowers and Gifts
Celebration Flowers & Gifts will be delivering hundreds of Be Happy® Bouquets in honor of Teleflora’s Make Someone Smile Week from July 17th through the 23rd.

Teleflora donates the Be Happy® Mugs, and florists work with local wholesalers and growers to secure flower donations. With these donations, Teleflora florists create the cheerful Be Happy® Bouquets and delivers them to local hospitals, residents of nursing homes, recipients of Meals on Wheels, and other organizations.

In its 16th year, Teleflora’s annual Make Someone Smile® Week program has grown into the floral industry’s most popular, successful and emotional initiative in North America.

“We receive the most wonderful feedback from relatives of the bouquet recipients, says Debbie Custer, owner of Celebration Flowers & Gifts. Several times a year we get calls from family members, even out of state, remarking on how much the flowers meant to their loved one. I have been involved in the Teleflora event for seven years now and will continue for years to come. The feedback is what makes it all worthwhile and very rewarding.” Debbie goes on to thank their wonderful wholesalers, Mayesh of Romulus and Rokay of Plymouth. “Without their donations we would not have such a successful event!”

Celebration Flowers & Gifts of Canton is a one-stop shop for weddings and everyday flowers. Debbie and Gregg Custer have owned the business for 13 years. It has grown to include three full-time employees, up to 20 part-time employees with over 4,000 square feet of space! The shop’s bustling wedding season begins in early March and lasts throughout the holiday season in December. The store also does great during prom season with Plymouth-Canton Educational Park nearby.

The store keeps current by offering fresh new product lines often. Vera Bradley purses and accessories have been a great success and now occupies a larger area of the showroom. Store hours are Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm and Saturday, 10am to 3pm.

Debbie Custer is on the Michigan Floral Association Board and is president of the Teleflora’s Michigan unit. The business is also a member of the Society of American Florists.

College Nannies + Tutors Help Build Strong Families

College Nannies
College Nannies + Tutors in Canton has been helping to build stronger families in the community since 2014. The business is locally owned and operated. The owners both had demanding careers and needed backup care many times. It was then that they realized the service was needed in the community.

Refresh your Workshop with a Visit to the Tool Shop

The Tool Shop
The Tool Shop began over three years ago as a consignment store for tools and equipment. Owners, Bob Lipmyer and his son Jason are tool geeks and both have backgrounds in woodworking, metalworking and construction. The Tool Shop specializes in all kinds of tools and equipment for homeowners and professionals alike. From woodworking to metal working, plumbing to landscaping, The Tool Shop has a large volume of tools for every need.

The idea for The Tool Shop came about when Bobs’ woodshop needed an upgrade. He looked around and realized there was a multitude of unused tools and equipment taking up space. Those unused items needed to go before he could bring in new ones. Bob realized there was a need for a place where buyers and sellers of tools and equipment could come together, and that was the beginning of The Tool Shop.

“We are lifelong residents of the Plymouth, Canton, and the Ann Arbor area. We chose to locate our store in our community,” explains Bob Lipmyer. “We chose Canton to be located near the Ford Road corridor, the concentration of people, and our neighbors. The community response to our store has been nothing short of exciting, “says Lipmyer. “Our customers bring items to us to sell and also come to us to purchase tools to avoid paying high retail prices. When we first opened, we were able to display several hundred items. Today, we have over 20,000 items available and that is what keeps our inventory fresh and always changing every week.”

The Tool Shop regularly has customers who will spend hours looking through the store. The Tool Shop offers more than just a store to purchase tools, it is a resource to sell tools that are no longer being used. If moving, cleaning out an estate or just have an excess of tools and equipment, The Tool Shop can help. Many of their consignors are also purchasing customers, they sell the items they no longer use and purchase the items they need.

The Tool Shop is located at 6138 Canton Center Road. Visit their website at www.cantontoolshop.com, or their Facebook page at, https://www.facebook.com/TheToolShop. Many of the larger and more unique items are posted and are for sale on the website. Call 734-667-3306 for more information.

Black Rock Bar & Grill, a Sizzling Success in Canton

Black Rock Canton

The first Black Rock Bar & Grill opened in Hartland, Michigan in 2010. Because of their success, Black Rocks are expanding and opening throughout the country.

The Canton location is the first franchisee under the Black Rock name. Owned by the Schifko family, the business has enjoyed an overwhelming response from the local community. The Ghatto family, owners of The Roman Forum, offered outstanding support as Black Rock joined the Canton business community.

Black Rock Bar & Grill in Canton may be just the place to satisfy your craving. Guests cook steak and/or seafood on a 755 degree stone right at their table to perfection. The cooking style actually sears the meat and holds about 20 percent more juices. This makes the cut of meat much more flavorful and tender. The first bite is as hot and fresh as the last.

Black Rock offers free appetizer cards for birthdays and anniversaries that can be used on a following visit. Join them for the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day buffets coming up this spring and summer from 9am-2pm on both days.

The restaurant is located at 41601 Ford Road in Canton. Call 734-927-7800 for more information or visit www.blackrocksizzlingsteakhouse.com or their Facebook page at Black Rock Bar & Grill – Canton.

Upscale Your Look at SA Wells Beauty Bar Salon Spa

SA Wells Beauty Bar Salon Spa
The owners of SA Wells Beauty Bar Salon Spa have been in business for many years. The business began as a family owned operation in New Hampshire back in 1979. It was originally called SA Wells & Company Haircutters. In 1998 the owner moved to Michigan, along with her parents, to support and grow the business. In 2002 L’esprit Salon & Spa opened on Ann Arbor Road. Two years later they expanded and opened a cosmetology school in Livonia called L’esprit Academy. They now have a campus located in Royal Oak.

Currently SA Wells Beauty Bar Salon Spa is located on Ford Road, in the blue block next to Play it Again Sports in the Aldi’s Plaza. The owners decided they needed a change of scenery after over a decade of business in Livonia and determined that Ford Road was an excellent location for an upscale, on-trend, urban chic salon. Canton has been a supportive community and they look forward to growing here! They have networked with surrounding businesses like Tilted Kilt and Aji Ten to promote each other (and to get great meals!).

Some of their services include the latest in color, hair extensions and even eye lash extensions. They offer incredible retail specials every month and amazing value on services.  Their prices on Moroccan Oil, Wella, Sebastian, American Crew and Dermalogica are the best around and competitive, and they offer expert advice along with it!

UPS Store Moves to New Ford Road Location

UPS Store Canton Ford Road
The owners of the UPS Store in Canton took over about 11 years ago and recently moved to a more ideal location for their customers. They wanted a new challenge and decided to take advantage of a great opportunity. They felt that the new location allowed for greater exposure for the business as opposed to that of the original location. The parking is much improved for customers and the store is surrounded by a plethora of striving businesses like Outback Steakhouse that can essentially provide more visibility for the company.

The UPS Store offers interstate and international shipping utilizing multiple services ranging from DHL to USPS. They offer a wide range of services from notary to mailbox services and faxing. The store also offers mailboxes services for local business as well as house accounts for businesses that do a consistent amount of shipping. With those house accounts they receive additional discounts and services to assist those businesses with their daily operations.

The UPS Store has experienced substantial growth. Each week more people come into the store for shipping as well as to open mailboxes for their businesses. The store has been instrumental in servicing many people in the process of relocating with box and pack services prior to shipping their belongings to their new locations. Overall holiday shipping grows more and more from year to year as well.

They have had the interesting experience of shipping live tropical fish as well as many Michigan branded products (Faygo and Better Made) all over the United States. They’ve also witnessed merchandise that has been passed down from generation to generation being shipped to family members throughout the years. One particular customer shipped a brick from the house that he grew up in to his new home.

They hold several annual events at the store such as passing out candy to area children during Halloween. The staff dresses in costume to help the children enjoy the Halloween festivities in a safe environment.

The store is located at 42807 Ford Road, Canton. Call 734-981-8200 for more information or visit the website at www.theupsstorelocal.com/0423.

Get Gorgeous at European Wax Center in Canton

European Wax Center
European Wax Center was founded by siblings David Coba and Josh Coba in 2004 and is now recognized, by many, as the leader in the waxing services category. The Cobas believe luxurious waxing is for anyone who wants to reveal beautiful skin. EWC enables everyone to feel pampered, gorgeous and sexy. Guests walk in and strut out.

EWC plans to bring 20 plus locations to Michigan. “We chose Canton as our first location because the opportunity was in an amazing spot right off of Ford Road, located in front of Ikea,” explains Marci Karp, Regional Development Manager. “We are located in the Willow Creek Shopping Center where many women stop to do their shopping. Canton is a beautiful community and we are pleased to be a part of it with our flagship Center.”

Since the Canton opening in late September, EWC has started building their next center in West Bloomfield. In addition to the new center, they have brought on two franchisees to their team.

When the center first opened in Canton, they held a Preview Week where guests were invited for free waxing so the waxers could perfect their craft using EWC’s unique wax. They were able to choose any of the services for free!

Their belief in their services is so strong that they treat all first-time guests to a complimentary wax. Women can choose to do the eyebrow, underarm or bikini line and men can choose the eyebrow, nose or ear. The 4 step process, including the Comfort Wax made exclusively for European Wax Center provides a virtually pain-free experience for guests. Comfort Wax is a hard, strip-less, alcohol free wax that doesn’t adhere to the skin. Guests can enjoy a comfortable, professional environment while receiving their wax services by state licensed EWC estheticians.

For more information about European Wax Center or to inquire about owning a franchise, visit waxcenter.com or at facebook.com/EuropeanWaxCenterCanton.

Run, don’t Walk to Road Runner Sports!

Road Runner Storefront
Road Runner Sports opened their first store in Canton last November followed by the second store opening in West Bloomfield this past April. The stores are part of a partnership with Road Runner Sports Headquarters in San Diego, a national and online store chain and the largest running and walking store in the United States. Alan Whitehead who owns Kona Running Company based in Northville, holds seven annual race events for runners and walkers in the area. Alan owns both Road Runner Michigan stores.

“I was originally an avid runner participating in approximately 13 to 14 road races per year then elevated my race distance to half marathons and marathons,” says Whitehead. “Then I joined the Detroit Free Press Marathon race staff in 1999 and became race director of the Detroit Thanksgiving Parade Turkey Trot and also established a new race in Northville called the Solstice Run.”

Road Runner Sports offers many brands of running and walking shoes along with apparel, nutrition and even recovery products. We offer major shoe brands such as Nike, Asics, Brooks, Adidas, Saucony, New Balance, Mizuno, Hoka, Reebok, Merrel, Pearl Izumi, Altra, and Newton.

We also offer a free analysis of your feet and can design and produce custom insoles (orthotics) in the store. We have 90 day guarantee on all shoes and merchandise plus a VIP Membership Program which offers a year round 10% discount. Group Training Runs and Sports Yoga Classes are also offered at the store.

Canton was chosen as a new location because the Plymouth-Canton-Livonia area did not have a running specialty store. Canton is a highly educated community that has residents that are involved in fitness and athletics. Since the opening of the store, business volume has tripled.

“We conduct monthly charity benefit events at the store plus free Adventure Run events. These monthly runs benefit a different charity each month,” explains Alan Whitehead. “We are starting a new Ice Cream Social every month and a Pizza Night. The free Adventure Run events are held on the first Thursday of each month at both stores. Local Canton and West Bloomfield area sponsors are utilized for the store charity events, with food and gift certificates used or purchased from those local Canton retailers.

Brighten Your Day with Teknicolors

Teknicolor1 Lg
CANTON MI- Teknicolors Paints was founded in 1997. There are five stores in the area including, Birmingham, Farmington Hills, Pontiac, Redford and Canton. They serve the painter trade, commercial and industrial users, municipalities and Do-it-Yourself homeowners.

“Paint is not rocket science, however paint coatings are the final touch to making all things look good,” says Kevin Westfall, General Manager. “It is very rewarding for us to see paint purchased for any project such as a small birdhouse or for a job as large as Ford Motor Company World Headquarters. We have a goal of people leaving our locations with a smile.”

They provide extensive customer service and determine what will make their customers' projects go smoothly, and ask the questions that will allow them to supply the proper products.

“Selling paint is fun for us and we try and make it a fun experience for our customers. We have had many situations, in our short Canton stay, where customers have discovered inexpensive ways to re-due what they have, instead of buying new,” says Westfall. One example is customers with old kitchen cabinets that have discovered the gel stain or cabinet coat paint that can bring new life with minor preparation and cost.

Westfall goes on to explain that they knew Canton was a great city and their customers continually thank them for coming to Canton and have been very welcoming. Since their opening last January, they are now seeing daily signs of growth and look forward to a colorful future. Teknicolors Paints has had great support from the Canton and Plymouth Chambers of Commerce.

The Canton store is located at 43319 Joy Road. Stay tuned for their Grand Opening/Good Old Paint Days in mid-September. Check the website at www.Teknicolors.com or Facebook at Teknicolors Paints. Re-Train Your Body and Soul to Heal at West End Yoga

West End Yoga
CANTON MI- West End Yoga a bohemian, meditative space focused on healing, located in Canton on Canton Center and Ford Rd.

“We believe that yoga is not simply an exercise, but a pathway to greater ease and healing in the body. We simply hold space and guide you to listen to your own inner wisdom,” says Leah Slagenwhite, owner of The West End Yoga Company.

West End offers yoga classes guided by experienced teachers, with a focus on yoga therapy, meaning we believe yoga is medicine, addressing all body systems and functions from the inside out, for all levels and body types.

After being diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system) at age 29, Leah was changed forever. “There was a point where I asked why me? Instead of dwelling on the “disaster” I saw the diagnosis as a change that was much needed, and this direction led to massive internal healing,” explains Slagenwhite.

People can all use ancient principles as a road map to create their own healing programs. Illnesses can be complex, but bodies have the innate ability to know what to do to heal. The world of self-love, nurture, and care for the soul is delicious and divine. This is available to everyone, no matter what the illness is.

Leah created West End Yoga to be able to share her expertise with as many people as possible. “I chose Canton because I grew up here and it is a community that is very family-oriented. Since I have started a family of my own I thought, why not go back to my hometown and bring a different type of healing? There weren’t any yoga studios, aside from the recreation centers or a gym at that time so I used our savings and did it and opened up in November of 2014.”

Yoga has become much more popular and people are in need of a way to find connection to themselves, whether it’s through the breath or through movement. The type of yoga we offer (hatha, yin and BUTI) unlock buried resentments and other toxic emotions, so when people feel the release, they keep coming back because they’re finding they can heal themselves through consistent practice of coming back to the soul-space.

West End offers a full suite of pure, medicinal, therapeutic grade essential oils and have a retail shop called Sapphire Soul located inside the studio, run by a female entrepreneur and mama. Sapphire Soul creates necklaces, bracelets, and holistic goodies.

The yoga studio supports local artists and businesses such as SkyZone, The Canton Public Library, and also love LaShisho for their events.

On July 24th, West End is hosting the band GO W/ THE FLOW, a yoga and live music collaboration, designed to get you out of your head and into your body. During this immersive collision of music and movement, Tori’s powerful but playful vinyasa sequence is scored by Ben’s live-looped beatboxing, guitar, and vocals.

There will also be an awesome summer line-up of workshops, everything from essential oils for anxiety (FREE) to Full Body Foam Roller Therapy! Sign up on the website under workshops and events at http://thewestendyogacompany.com or call 248-345-2021 for more information.

The Custer family looks forward to a festive week, November 3rd though the 9th, as they host a Christmas Open House, a Grand Opening of the new location and celebrate their 10th Anniversary of business in their hometown, Canton, MI.

Since moving to Canton as a family in 1989, the Custer family has seen extensive growth and development, making it a great place to live and do business. In 2004, Flowers and Gifts, more popularly known as Wedding and Celebration Creations, originally began as a centerpiece, silks, and arches rental business. Now it has blossomed into a full service florist, a one-stop shopping event planner – serving hundreds of weddings a year – as well as a gift and home decor shop where you can fi nd everything from Vera Bradley and Yankee Candles to women’s accessories and jewelry. Debbie Custer, along with husband Gregg, and daughter Megann work together full time, and daughter Cheryll and son-in-laws Will and Fred pitch in during busy holidays and the bridal season. Daughter Jaclynn, her husband Tabor and their first grandchild, Logan, reside out-of-state.

Striving to follow green practices and help the community do the same, they accept vases and baskets to refurbish and use for donations to local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

While they still provide ‘grab and go’ floral arrangements, they really shine when designing something unique for each client. The design room is located in the showroom rather than hidden in back, so that clients can relax, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and watch their floral design come to life.

Stop in to see your neighbors at Flowers and Gifts at their new location at Ford and Sheldon. As of October 1st, showroom hours will extend to M-T-W 10-6; Th 10-7; F 10-5; Sat 10-5; Sun 11-1 and by appointment.

Art Van PureSleep Where Better Sleep Means Better Health

Art Van Pure Sleep
Art Van PureSleep in Canton is celebrating four years of getting their customers a better night’s sleep. This was the first store of its kind for Art Van. “The PureSleep concept was introduced in Canton. Due to the strong community support here, it has become a top initiative for Art Van”, said John Albrecht, Store Manager of PureSleep in Canton.

The PureSleep stores have other locations in Rochester, Troy and Brighton. Because of their success, PureSleep is expanding outside of Michigan to the Chicago, IL and Toledo, OH areas in the coming year.

Back in 2008, Art Van set out to research the science of sleeping and consulted with the nation’s top sleep experts. John Albrecht was part of the team.

“The PureSleep stores use a technology called ‘Sleep Diagnostics.’ This system completes your sleep profile in about seven minutes. With more than 18 statistical measurements and thousands of calculations, we can learn a great deal about the way our customers sleep,” says John.

The PureSleep experts gain an understanding of how your body responds to a specific sleep system. Then the right sleep system can be found, always keeping in mind the cost of the system. The intent is to find what is best for the customer, without spending any more than they need to.

Come in and see us at PureSleep of Canton and start sleeping better tonight! Pure Sleep specialists John Albrecht and Georgia Duffield invite you to a better night’s sleep.

Fresh, Healthy and Delicious Cuisine at Neehee’s Indian Vegetarian Street Food

Neehees
Looking for a deliciously different alternative to the restaurant scene? Neehee’s at 45656 Ford Road in Canton offers a unique taste of Indian Street Food, vegetarian style! This bright orange and yellow restaurant has a great ethnic vibe for healthy, fresh and flavorful food.

Owner Rikesh Patel explains that Indian Vegetarian Street Food is a step up from the traditional American hot dog vendor. “In India there is a large vegetarian population, and traditionally workers would be looking for a nutritious, high protein meal to get them through the day,” explains Patel.

Patel introduced the concept here in the Detroit area back in 2003 while selling it out of his Indian grocery store. “There wasn’t any place around here that offered it,” says Patel. Indian Vegetarian Street Food was a hit at the store, so with his brother Vrijesh as his partner, Patel opened Neehee’s in 2008.

On the menu are items such as “chaat”, which is defined as a savory Indian snack. One of the more popular chaat items is the chole bhature, which is a spicy blend of chick peas served with deep fried bhatura, an Indian bread. Its taste is almost reminiscent of a vegetarian chili.

There is a variety of sandwiches including the popular Bombay Veggie Club Sandwich. A combination of beets, tomatoes, potatoes and cucumbers are layered with cheeses and chutney for a mouth-watering experience!

The flavors of Indian Vegetarian Street Food reflect the different cultures and regions of India, as does Neehee’s menu. These delicious items range from soups and sandwiches to full dinners made with beans, vegetables, and Indian spices. There are even Indian Chinese offerings, including rice and noodle dishes.

Neehee’s is fresh and nothing is ever made from frozen ingredients. In fact, the only frozen item you’ll find is their delicious homemade ice cream, made “old-fashioned” style, with ingredients like fresh rose milk, exotic fruits, pistachios, and falooda seeds, which promote good digestion.

With over 130 menu items, there is so much to choose from! Neehee’s prides itself on exceptional quality in food and service, in a family-friendly atmosphere. Come and visit the Patel family for a delicious treat at Neehee’s! Neehee’s is open Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.- 9:30 p.m, Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday noon to 8 p.m. Follow them on Facebook at Facebook.com/NeeHee’s, or find their full menu at www.Neehees.com, and call 734.737.9777 to place a carry-out order.
